Shorewood Business District News – December 2020

THE NEW YEAR IS ALMOST HERE!

As 2020 comes to a close (phew) we have so much to be thankful for. Your support of our local businesses during this crazy time means more to us than you will ever know. Our community has stepped up in ways that we could never imagine and we are grateful to every one of you – from ordering takeout, shopping local, participating in virtual workshops, purchasing gift cards, referring friends, to leaving positive reviews on social media. Every one of these actions helps our small businesses!

Art Auction Success!

The art auction for the Shorewood Artists Guild in partnership with the BID was a huge success according to our local artists! Over $2,000 worth of artwork was sold and maybe even more importantly the guild had about 1,600 views on the auction website and countless views of the art throughout the business district. Shout out to the awesome collaboration between the artists and the business owners who displayed their work and of course to all of you who purchased art!
If you are interested in purchasing more art, please feel free to reach out to Sangeeta Patel via email or join the Shorewood Artists Guild Facebook Page

They can even put together an amazing gift box for you!

Signature Sweets Now Open!

We are so excited to announce the opening of Shorewood’s newest bakery, Signature Sweets! Kimberly Hall, the owner and 7 time Food Network baking contender, moved into the former Miss Cupcake Bakery located at 3801 N. Oakland Ave. and opened on December 12th. The bakery specializes in all things sweet but Kimberly is well-known for her wonderfully unique sculpted cakes. Stop in or visit the pick up window in the back for all your sweet cravings including everything from cookies, scones, brownies, and cupcakes to the wildly popular hot chocolate bombs!  Keep an eye on their Facebook page for menu updates

We’d like to extend a super sweet welcome to Blooming Lotus Gourmet Bakery and Milwaukee Yoga Center who opened recently at 3948 Maryland Avenue. For those who aren’t familiar, Milwaukee Yoga Center recently celebrated their 20 year anniversary. In addition, this is Blooming Lotus Bakery’s 2nd location. (Two different companies with the same owner in the same space) The bakery offers an amazing variety of gluten free, vegan, egg free, grain free, soy free and Kosher treats which are all ridiculously delicious. Stop in and grab some for the Halloween weekend – open Thursday thru Sunday from 9am to 1pm!

Coming Soon!

In spite of the pandemic raging on, we are excited that there are a few businesses heading our way soon. Opening sometime in November (fingers crossed) we are looking forward to checking out Scout Wine. “Luke and I are thrilled to introduce to Scout Wine Merchants to Shorewood. Through Scout we can follow our passions of exploration and discovery all while introducing people to new experiences and products in an environment where the neighborhood can relax and enjoy.” said owner, Emily Laga.  Sign up for their newsletter scoutwinemerchants.com and follow them on Instagram @scoutwinemerchants

We are also anxiously awaiting the arrival of Fiddleheads Coffee Roasters, scheduled to open before the end of the year. Founded in Thiensville, WI, Fiddleheads is a family-owned specialty coffee company with multiple cafes, a small-batch coffee roastery, and artisan bakery. I don’t know about all of you, but to me there is no such thing as too much coffee…

Stay tuned – more businesses coming soon!

Thanks to everyone who has supported and continues to support our small businesses. It does not go unnoticed and we are so very grateful for the support! -Steph Salvia, Executive Director, Shorewood Business Improvement District

Shorewood Business District News – August 2020

It’s Baaaaaack!

Round 3 of our Mobile Music series is happening this Friday, August 21st from 6-9pm. This time the Funkclub Wagon is partnering up with the band, De La Buena to wow you with their take on Latin and Afro-Cuban music that’s sure to have you dancing in the streets! The first hour the group will stick around the Business District and the final two hours it will be mostly in the surrounding neighborhood.
The idea is not only to hear some great live music safely but also to help out our local stores and restaurants. So be sure to check out our retailers sidewalk sales, dine at our amazing Shorewood outdoor cafes or grab your favorite takeout and head back home to wait for the truck to go by. Let
Steph know if you have requests to have it come down your street!

The event will also be live-streamed from the Shorewood BID Facebook Page

Special shout-out to the Shorewood Foundation for their partnership!

New Businesses!

Please welcome two of our newer businesses, Lash Lounge and Ethereal Acupuncture! In the chaos of the pandemic we had a couple more businesses open their doors albeit a little more slowly than they probably originally planned…

With The Lash Lounge Shorewood – North Oakland Avenue, it’s easy to wake up and face the day head-on (pun intended).  We’re your destination for semi-permanent eyelash extensions, refills, threading, and more. When you visit The Lash Lounge, you enter a retreat designed to rejuvenate you from the inside out. Founded in 2006 with over 100 salons nationwide, all our technicians are professionally trained to evaluate your facial features and recommend beauty treatments that deliver the look you want on a schedule that works for you.  Call or text today 1-414-600-0550 or book online HERE
