Community Resources

In response to the federal government shutdown which has impacted many Shorewood students, families, and individuals, with the lack of ongoing funding for the federal program, FoodShare, Wisconsin’s version of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the Shorewood BID, in partnership with other Shorewood organizations has compiled the following list of resources for those in need or those looking to help. Below are various businesses or community entities that are making it a priority to give back with care and compassion.
Shorewood Resources:
- Breakthrough Wellness – For every $25 donation to the Shorewood Foundation, get a free 30-60 minute 1:1, partner or small group workout. Proof of donation required.
- Cloud Red – Throughout November donate to Kinship MKE, a local nonprofit supporting families and neighbors facing food insecurity. Toast, will match donations up to $50,000, so every bit truly doubles in impact They are also running a winter clothing drive for Capuchin Community Services St. Benedict the Moor.
- Jersey Mike’s – Organizing a Thanksgiving Food Drive on November 25th to support Hunger Task Force. Bring in 1 food item and get a BOGO sub coupon. Bring in 2+ items and get a free regular sub coupon
- Kingo Lutheran Church – Accepting non-perishable food for the All Peoples Church food pantry located at 2nd and Clarke. Also accepting NEW youth-sized winter coats (small, medium, large). Non-perishable food items include: canned tuna, canned chicken, Spam, canned beans (green, baked), canned pastas, peanut butter (smooth). Items can be left at the Olive street door or dropped off during office hours.
- Move More Yoga – Donation-based yoga class Sunday, November 9th to raise funds for Interchange Food Pantry. Sign up on their website.
- Posh Collective – Community Food Drive during business hours (Tues – Saturday, Noon – 5:00pm) through November 20th. Venmo & Cash Donations also accepted. Posh will purchase groceries for local families. If you are in need, please stop in to connect.
- Sage Legal Group – Collecting goods to donate non-perishable food donation drive for the Hunger Task Force through November 24th.
- Shorewood Family Chiropractic – Accepting donations in exchange for a holiday card with original artwork by local Milwaukee artists through the month of November. Proceeds will be donated to the Hunger Task Force. Donations will be taken at the front desk.
- Shorewood Foundation: Make a donation marked SCN Food and all donation will go towards purchasing Metro Market gift cards to distribute. Reach out to Anjum Alden (anjum.alden@gmail.com) if you are in need.
