Community-Minded North Shore Bank
Deeply Rooted in Shorewood
Shorewood has always been home to North Shore Bank. Founded here in 1923, they love Shorewood and demonstrate that by being an involved corporate citizen and supporter of a number of important civic groups, including those that celebrate the Village’s history, arts scene, business district, children and more.

History and heritage are very important to the bank where they have a long been supporters of the Shorewood Little League, Shorewood Library, Shorewood SEED Foundation and BID, Ghost Train, Shorewood Criterium Cycling Classic, and most recently, the North Shore Bank Shorewood Feast!

North Shore Bank got its start here over 95 years ago when a group of determined local teachers opened the bank in the back of what was then the Perkins Hardware Store. In the succeeding years, North Shore Bank has grown into a financial institution with 44 offices in eastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois, more than 500 employees, and over $2 billion in assets.

The bank has occupied a variety of Shorewood locations, most recently moving to a new building at 4060 N. Oakland. Built to help meet customers’ evolving needs, while still maintaining a big presence on Oakland Avenue, the office offers new technology and enhanced branch design that gives customers more flexible options, including extended drive-up banking hours – 70 hours, 7 days a week. They are pleased to remain in the same, vibrant neighborhood with the talented employee team their customers have grown to know and rely on, and are excited for what the future holds in Shorewood.

BlackBear Children’s Boutique Opening Soon
Meet Emma Carollo who is passionate about children’s clothing. “My six nieces and nephews are my inspiration behind my shop. I grew up in Shorewood, graduated from Shorewood High School and am so excited to be back here, as a resident and opening a children’s boutique in my hometown!”  Her boutique will be at 4312 N. Oakland Ave this month after starting off showcasing her business at events, markets and most recently a pop-up shop.

Her boutique will provide superior quality and design clothing, collected locally and from around the world.  She specializes in clothing made of organic cotton and sourced from independent brands, supporting small makers and the slow fashion movement. By offering high-quality pieces that stay away from trends,  she believes her items can make unique gifts that are cherished and passed down for generations to come. “It’s conscious clothing. One of my designers makes their kerchief bibs from 100% renewable energy and they are biodegradable!”

Ascension Settles In On Oakland
In case you haven’t noticed, Ascension is up and running in their new home at 4027 N. Oakland. The larger space allows them to offer expanded services, adding OB-GYN to their family medical team, along with on-site radiology and ultrasound.

The building they were previously in is on the market, roughly 14,000 square feet. What do you think would be a good use for this building?
