The Shorewood Business Improvement District (BID) announces its inaugural Shops Open Shorewood series of events. Beginning May 9th and continuing every Second Thursday of the month through October 10th from 5:00 to 7:00pm, over 30 businesses on Oakland Avenue and Capitol Drive will showcase their unique services and shopping experiences.
The Shops Open series dates are:

June 13th
July 11th
August 8th
September 12th
October 10th
The event is free to the public and everyone is encouraged to attend and support local.

A new community-wide initiative is connecting Shorewood businesses, organizations, volunteers, Shorewood Village committees, schools, and individual citizens through a program called The Shorewood Longevity Project. Led by the co-founders, Sarah Axtell and Heather Mansfield, the Project is focused on improving the quality of life for all – in all dimensions of wellbeing – leaning heavily into the well- researched and well-documented levers of longevity and happiness including social support, mental and physical health (including nutrition, daily movement, and access to nature), positive community engagement, and more. The Project’s efforts are aimed to help people – and by extension, the Shorewood community – live not only longer lives but better lives: lives rich with health, meaning, and authentic connection. Breakfast Workshop with Lakeside Natural Medicine
Join Lakeside Natural Medicine for a Osteoporosis & Osteopenia Group Visit Series. In an intimate group of approximately 8 patients, we will gather in their “food as medicine” kitchen. Dr. Axtell will educate patients on their common health concern and also allow space for individuals to ask questions, share concerns and experiences. The group visits are scheduled as a series of two 75-minute visits that are scheduled approximately four weeks apart.
Patients will work together with the doctor in a hands-on environment to prepare and taste therapeutic foods. At the end of the visit all patients will leave with a wellness packet that include recommendations for a therapeutic diet, lifestyle interventions, recipes, resources, and supplements.
