Next Friday, June 23rd –
19th Annual Shorewood Criterium Classic
Back again, the 19th Annual Shorewood Criterium Classic, presented by Draft & Vessel, is being held on Friday, June 23rd from 11:00am to 8:00pm! Please join the Shorewood Business Improvement District (BID) and Tour of America’s Dairyland for this fun one-day event showcasing riders from near and far! Check out the race map and the race schedule below for a list of the days races!
 
STREET CLOSURES
Streets will begin closing at 8:00am and will remain closed until about 11:00pm for clean up.
We would like to remind residents both on and inside the course (see map) that they will need to park their cars outside the permit area if in/out access is needed.
There will no parking in the 1700 blocks of Marion, Lake Bluff and Kensington from Oakland Ave. westward to the commercial alley or end of commercial buildings, whether signs are posted or not. The race route is bound by Oakland Ave, Marion St, Maryland Ave & Kensington Blvd with barricades on Glendale Ave., the north end of Oakland with the Kensington Street Block Party from 4500 to 4528 Oakland Ave.
For those located within the interior of the race route, you will have vehicle access at the intersection of Lake Bluff & Maryland Ave. in between races. This will be the only point that Shorewood Police will allow vehicle traffic to cross the route during intervals in the race. There will be no parking allowed on the racecourse during the event. Please be sure to obey temporary no parking signs to avoid tickets and towing.
KIDS RACES
If you are interested in the kids races, please head over to the BLUE North Shore Bank / Little Sprouts Play Cafe tents located outside of Draft & Vessel no later than 5:30pm to sign a waiver and get ready to line up! Decorating will be available.
The age grouping for the kids races will be ages 3/4, 5/6, 7/8 and 9-12 year old’s. All kids MUST be wearing a helmet and sign the waiver prior to racing. At the end of the kids races, Culvers will be handing out free ice cream and Corner Bakery free cookies – so this is an event not to miss for the kiddos!
DAIRYLAND MILE
 New in 2023, we will be including a 1-mile running road race organized by Infinity Running called the Dairyland Mile Series! This race is short and fast. And there is a party; What’s not to love? Check their website for more details on registration and staging locations! Registration link HERE!
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
As always, these races can’t be successful without volunteers like you! Race marshals and corner guards are essential — they keep racers and their fans on their respective sides of the barricades so everyone has a safe and exciting race day. Plus they get a front row view of all the action!
Volunteers get a flag and a reflective vest to use, and an event t-shirt that will be yours to keep as our thanks for your time and service and a free beer for those 21 and over! Grab your friends and sign up for a shift below!

Saturday, September 9th
It’s back and will be better than ever! The 4th Annual Shorewood Feast set for Saturday, September 9th from Noon – 9:00pm, is Shorewood’s signature street festival from the 4200 to the 4400 blocks of Oakland Avenue. This is a family-friendly foodie event with free entertainment, food trucks and activities for every age including face painting, rock wall climbing, caricature artist and BMX demonstrations! There will be music, entertainment on two stages, a harvest dinner, artisans, and more!

A graduate of Logan University, Dr. McDonald is excited to put down roots in Milwaukee. While in school she completed internships at the Scott Air Force Base and the Saint Louis VA Medical Center. NPR Live at Lake Effect
This summer the two Lake Effects are coming together! “Live at Lake Effect” is a new music series, featuring local and nationally touring artists performing at Lake Effect Surf Shop. This monthly series is co-executive produced by Audrey Nowakowski, host and producer of Lake Effect on Milwaukee’s NPR, and Milwaukee musician Trapper Schoepp. Tune in June 20th for the first “Live at Lake Effect” featuring the band Dead Horses.
